I am excited to be writing and sharing with you the first of a monthly worship experience blog from your worship leaders. The goal is to encourage you in your quest for more of God's presence as well as  introduce a new song that you can look forward to hearing in the coming Sundays! This month the song is "Awake My Soul" by Hillsong Worship

"As he walks into the room where people pray

where WE hear praises, HE hears faith,..."

It is so easy to lose sight of why we gather together and praise our God. Especially in the day of podcasts and live streams that can be enjoyed in  your own home in the comfort of your favovrite P.J.'s.  In fact I'm listening to worship music, sipping coffee, in my pyjamas as I write this. It's wonderful! But, when we gather and praise God as a congregation –as one– it is so much more! The first two verses of this song touch on this. Isolated, the words  may not mean much, but the distinction is big. First off, He is here. He enters the room! Our praise is not like a thank you card mailed up to God.  A thank you card is often done out of tradition, and even the most heartfelt thank you card often ends up in the trash..... Sorry, recycling!  Where WE hear praises, HE hears faith! And the Bible is pretty clear about the power of faith! "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this Mulberry tree, 'be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you." Luke 17:6.

"And when He moves, and when WE PRAY, where stood a wall,

now stands a way where every promise is AMEN!

And when He moves, make no mistake! The bowels of hell begin to shake!

All hail the Lord, all hail the King!

Let the King of glory enter in.

Fall down on your knees and worship him.

Let His praise rise up, don't hold it in!

It is the Bridge of this song that ties it all together, and the reason I am inspired to bring this song into the new year.  I highlight this song because it reflects a vision I see for us in 2020.  That this year will be monumental.  It was at the Christmas banquet where I was having a conversation with Jason Elliott and he told me how he has been praying vigorously for a spiritual awakening at Lighthouse church (I'm paraphrasing) and ever since then it has been unmistakable that something is bubbling ready to burst in our church.  I believe in the last year God has been opening our eyes to the power of our prayers, our worship, and now he is saying it is time to not hold back!  That he wants to use our faith and shake the bowels of hell! I believe this is a power and movement that will blow open the doors of the church, shatter the windows, and enshroud our entire community in his Glory! God wants to see victory in YOUR circumstances, and then he wants to see it EVERYWHERE! He wants to do miracles, change the hearts of our leaders, bring joy to the suffering, healing to the hurt, and reach the lost in a significant way in 2020. And it all starts with with our praises, our faith!

"So Awake! My Soul! And sing His praise aloud! Let his praise rise up! Don't hold it in!"
