God’s Law – All Or Nothing? Part 3

I ended Part 2 by saying: Isn’t it ironic, that the law given by God meant to give man boundaries for his very own benefit, the Pharisees took as a license to sin? So you see, without the moral code, we only really have, half the law.
Things are no different today in earthly laws. Before I have lawyers and the like mad at me I’d like to say that this is simply a viewpoint from the everyday average person: How many times have we seen criminals who are clearly guilty “get off” due to a technicality or “loophole” in a law that some clever and shrewd lawyer found? The guilty get off when it is clear beyond any shadow of a doubt, that they were guilty. God has given everyone a conscience to know what’s right and wrong but that in itself does not sway a verdict; it isn’t even considered a factor. Even with eye-witnesses the guilty get off and “beat the System”. They receive a reprieve because the application of man’s law just like the Pharisees literal application is not combined with God’s moral code. If you disagree, imagine if you will God holding court and allowing back on the street those we allow. It just wouldn’t happen. Can you imagine what our world would be like, if God’s moral code was observed? If criminals would not be let off due to technicalities which actually assault our sense of justice? Even now there are many occasions where the guilty go free and the victim or their families are left paying the price. It has come to the point where we cannot defend ourselves against a burglar in our own homes, as he could sue us for assault, and win. Can we see the problem?
THE PROBLEM: If the law is only taken literally, and not in essence, there is a great amount of abuse done to the law, and justice is not served.
The reason we have so much trouble deciding which laws should be implemented in our governments, is because we don’t acknowledge God’s moral code. Issues like abortion would be non-issues if God’s moral code was followed. “Thou shalt not kill” is pretty plain and understandable, but since man across the earth does not acknowledge God as Sovereign, man’s version of morality is what the laws of the land are derived from. But here’s the thing: We’re back to that law of gravity, and the law of God’s wrath. It’s non-negotiable. If we kill our unborn, wrath is coming. Our only hope is to repent, because then that wrath falls on Jesus. It has to go somewhere. All throughout the Bible, the word speaks about all creation groaning and writhing because of the curse of sin. I personally believe that we are in serious trouble for all the innocent blood we as a people are spilling on the earth. God is the author of all life, and just because we do away with what some refer to as a “blob of tissue,” that person is as real as you and I, and in heaven for all eternity, safely in the arms of Jesus. This is not what God had in mind for us or his creation.
God is a God of perfect order and had a perfect plan. If we followed and adhered to the fullness of his written law of moral code, the Bible, our world would right itself and begin to thrive instead of deteriorate in very specific areas.
Often, non-believers or atheists will say that there is no God. Fine. Then they must also say, there exists no consistent moral code of right or wrong, either. If God does not exist, his laws don’t either. If they do not exist, I can freely do what I please, and take (not steal) all your stuff, like a lion taking the kill of another beast, simply because he’s hungry and wants it. What makes this ‘wrong’? We all say, “You can’t take my stuff simply because you want it!” Why? Because, it’s against the law. – Man’s law, derived from God’s law. (Remember: “Thou shalt not steal”?) Also, we have often made our own moral codes – all of us, unbelievers especially, to a more serious extent. Some of us stick closer to God’s law than others: “Well, it’s not really that bad, to take a few pens from the Office – they’ll never miss them, and everyone does it.” That’s stealing. “It’s not really that bad to abort a fetus – it’s just tissue after all.” That’s killing someone. We have altered God’s law or made up our own moral standard.
All of God’s law is all true, or not true, at all.
God has given us his amazing Word which conveys his heart through his law. Like the law of gravity that remains constant, He is holy and will always be holy. He cannot lie or deceive. We can’t take the laws we like and ignore the ones we don’t. It’s all or nothing. If only some of God’s laws are right, he’d have to be a liar and violate everything he is. We are all born with a nature predisposed to sin thanks to Adam. Disobeying the laws and moral code of God dictated by our consciences are what make us guilty and were designed to lead us to acknowledge our need for Him. Remember, God’s not on some power trip. He just loves us too much for us to be separated from him. He did what was needed in order to restore us to Him, to forgive us for every sin we’ll ever commit. In Part 4 we’ll conclude with how God’s laws, both written and moral, protect the human race.
