DESCRIPTION:FREE PUBLIC EVENT\nJoin us at Lighthouse Church in Ladner for a
  great evening to be challenged in our thinking with regard to the evoluti
 onary talk that prevades our culture.  In these 2 sessions\, CMI speaker 
 Gus Olsthoorn\, will address the question of "why?!"  As in\, "Why does i
 t matter if evolution is true or not?"   After a break for coffee and ch
 ecking out the Creation resource products that will be available\,  Gus w
 ill then encourage us with some astonishing science that supports a biblic
 al worldview. \n\nSession 1 - "If the Bible is True..."\nSession 2 - "Ama
 zing Evidence for a Young Universe"\n\nA great opportunity to invite famil
 y &amp\; friends to hear a Creation presentation. The two talks are geared
  for grade 7 and older and will\nAttendance is free and all are welcome. 
 Creation resources will be available.\nFAQ\n\nIs this a 'Christian' event?
   The event will examine the scientific data and demonstrate how it align
 s with the worldview of a creator God. A perspective held by many beyond t
 he christian faith.\nWill there be books and resources available?  Yes\, 
 there will be book tables set up and a good selection of material availabl
 e for purchase during the break. \nAre children welcome to attend?  Ther
 e is no child-care provided and the content is aimed at a youth/adult age 
 level\, however\, children are welcome to come and attend. \nCan I invite
  others  to come?  Absolutely.  We have plenty of space and its easy to
  put another pot of coffee on.   \nWill an offering be collected?  We a
 re not charging anything for this event but for those who wish to contribu
 te to the ministry there will be instructions on how to give a cash/cheque
 /debit card donation. Lighthouse Church will collect all donations and for
 ward them to CMI.\n\nAbout Gus Olsthoorn\nAugustinus "Gus" Olsthoorn is a 
 retired licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer\, and training professional
 \, with 45 years in the aviation industry. For over 25 years he was a tech
 nical instructor on Bombardier's business aircraft and had been developing
  online technical training for Bombardier and CAE\, the world leader in av
 iation training for commercial and military aircraft.\nAs a young man Gus 
 had no problem with evolutionary theory until he was challenged with the c
 laims of the Bible. "My brain began to hurt trying to make the Bible and e
 volution work together" he remembers. He turned a corner in his life when 
 he made a commitment to Christ in his early 20's. As a new believer he dil
 igently studied the Bible. Reading the ground-breaking book "The Genesis F
 lood" by Morris and Whitcomb spurred his interest in the scientific suppor
 t for the Biblical account of creation.\nGus was a founding member of the
  Creation Science Association of Quebec and has taught courses on creati
 on and evolution to teens and adults. He passionately believes that the pr
 evalence of evolutionary thinking has become a major obstacle in the accep
 tance of the Bible as the authoritative Word of God. As a consequence\, ma
 ny Christians find the Bible's opening chapters\, with its six-day creatio
 n and global flood\, embarrassing. Yet\, Gus believes that a careful exami
 nation of Scripture and what science can really tell us\, reveals a much d
 ifferent story than we are led to believe.\nGus has been married to his wi
 fe Debi for 45 years. They have 4 grown sons and 7 grandchildren. They liv
 e in Pierrefonds (Montreal)\, Quebec. His other interests are in studying 
 Islam and in travelling.
